The Pasadena Folk Dance Co-op welcomes you to learn dances from around the world. Our friendly group usually teaches the same dances for the first four Fridays of each month, so there is no need to commit to a series of lessons. Just show up at 7:45 PM in casual clothes and comfortable shoes. No partner is needed and your second visit is free. Otherwise, the cost is $6 per night.
We dance on a beautiful wooden floor at the Throop Unitarian Church, 300 S. Los Robles, in Pasadena, California (Northeast corner of Del Mar and Los Robles). You can get off the 210 Freeway at either California or Del Mar, turn east and then turn north (left) on Los Robles. The parking lot is on the right on Los Robles.
Introductory teaching starts promptly at 7:45 PM and intermediate teaching at 8:30 PM.
More practical information, including a map, is shown on our next page, Directions and More.

Perhaps you enjoyed learning folk dances in high school or college. Well now you can experience that fun again, at the Pasadena Folk Dance Co-op. We teach old and new international folk dances, and we probably do some of the same dances you learned when you were in your teens or twenties.
People come first and foremost to learn to dance to beautiful music in a friendly environment, but there are other benefits to folk dancing. Shy people find it easy to interact with others without being overwhelmed or embarrassed. Some of us found folk dancing to be a great antidote to depression or grief. There is something healing in dancing in a group.
Some of our members have danced professionally and others are just learning to dance for the first time. We are a very tolerant group with a wide range of ages and dancing abilities. Click here to see a slideshow of our May Day celebration.
Something special happened to the Pasadena Folk Dance Co-op over the past 70 years; it became a community! Folk dancing is a wonderful way to make new friends in a safe environment. Our dance group is one of the few places where unrelated people from different generations interact socially. Bonds are also formed among those with diverse political views, social classes, and ethnic origins. Friendships have lasted decades. Many folk dancers met their spouse or significant other while folk dancing.
Sometimes we just have zany fun, as you can see below.
