The cost is $5. Each evening’s teaching and dancing will be adjusted to the dance experience of the participants. They meet at the Community Center of La Cañada at 4469 Chevy Chase, La Cañada, CA 91011. The large dance floor has been refurbished and the ample parking is free. We meet in a nice air-conditioned dance studio, and it has a WOODEN floor. The room is in the back building, down the walkway, and upstairs. Yes, it’s worth the drive out to the Valley, for those who don’t live in it! (It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the studio from West LA on a typical Saturday night.)
There’s no other program like this one, at least in Southern California. We attempt to get to all requested Israeli dances, no matter how popular they were when they were new, as long as they were choreographed before 2001.
If you want a dance for which you know we don’t have the music, just bring us the CD or tape. The rest of the program will consist of a wide selection of older dances; mostly from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s; and we vary what we play each month.
The program is all-circle until 9:30, and then a mix of circle dances and short sets of couple dances until closing. Join us in dancing to NONE of the latest hit songs from Israel!
